A perfect Christmas day in Paris
Staying in the city of light during the holidays is a always a special moment: eat a waffle in one of the Christmas markets, ride of the big wheel at the Place de la Concorde, or ice skate on top of the Eiffel Tower… so much to do!
But if you really want to have a special experience, don’t miss the Festival du Merveilleux at the carousel museum, musée des arts forains. It is the only time of the year where the attractions are open to the public and the atmosphere is simply quite unique…
You can also visit the wonderful exhibition dedicated to the famous cartoonist Hergé and delve into the magical world of Tintin. One of the top events in Paris this winter is the the incredible Chtchoukine collection at The Louis Vuitton Fondation in the Bois de Boulogne. A unique occasion to admire masterpieces signed by Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh, or Monet, spectacular! The museum is right next to a great amusement park, jardin d’acclimation with many fun fair rides for Christmas.
Late afternoon, visit the Madeleine church to admire the famous giant creche created every year by a contemporary artist, unless you prefer the more classic approach in front of Paris’s Notre-Dame cathedral.
A special Christmas evening in Paris
If you fancy a more glamorous Christmas evening, put on your tuxedo or black dress and take a seat at the Opéra Garnier to admire the work of the Czech choreographer, Jiri Kylian with his 3 contemporary ballets or instead a wonderful evening watching Noureev’s Swan Lake at Opéra Bastille.
Another option will be to discover the vision of Romeo and Juliet by the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj at Chaillot theatre. 20 years after his creation, the piece is still as powerful as ever.
As every year, the Chatelet theatre is presenting an English speaking musical, a great way to spend a joyful Christmas evening in Paris. The classic and fun 42nd street musical is on stage this year.
