The leaves of the trees of Luxembourg are getting red, the light on the Seine is softer, the Parisian women are wrapped in pretty scarves … Fall is settling in Paris meaning that the best cultural season of the year is starting, here is our selection of the season!
Masters rendez-vous in Paris
Masters of painting and sculpture have a rendez-vous in Paris, Picasso or Míro, choose your camp!
We begin with the first works of Picasso in the early XX° century with its blue and pink period, an exceptional exhibition that brings together paintings and sculptures from this founding period.
Picasso will then be one of the leading artists of the exhibition Cubism at the Pompidou Center with more than 300 works representing this revolutionary trend.
Another great Spanish artist, Míro is the subject of a major retrospective at the Grand Palais. Through its huge canvases and surrealist sculptures, you will be immerses in its so singular universe, blue, still blue!
Then let’s go to Bois de Boulogne to admire the starring duet of the autumn: Egon Schiele versus Jean-Michel Basquiat at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, visual shock guaranteed!
Finally Giacometti has taken up residence at the Maillol museum until January 20 for a dialogue with the greatest sculptors of his time.
A jumping autumn
The dance will also be at the heart of cultural news with a 100% pop event: Michael Jackson will shine in the Grand Palais with the exhibition On the Wall. The influence of the King of the Pop on contemporary art will be illustrated by many works of art, clips, stage outfits … a brilliant way to revive this extraordinary personality.
The Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin will be honored in Paris this fall with the Batsheva Dance Company in Chaillot with 4 shows. His creation Decadance has also integrated the repertoire of the Paris Opera and will be performed at the Opéra Garnier until 19 October.
It’s time to cross Paris to admire the last performance of the Cirque Plume at La Villette. The troupe bid farewell to the stage with this latest production more poetic than ever, where ecology is at the heart of this creation.
Also at the Villette, the choreographer Mourad Merzouki presents his latest creation, Vertikal, an aerial performance for the 10 dancers who jump in the air, spectacular!
As every year, art galleries from around the world will be installed in the nave of the Grand Palais for FIAC, this major international contemporary art fair from October 18th to 21st.
The photo galleries will meet a few weeks later for Paris Photo still under the nave of the Grand Palais. Vintage prints to digital artists, this event is a must :-)
Finally we must celebrate the arrival of autumn greedily with this amazing hazelnut designed by Cédric Grolet, the most arty dessert in Paris :-)
