Reviews of Montmartre

  • One morning in a cafe in Montmartre sitting at the next table was a French girl chatting to a German Family and advising them on what to do and where to go in Paris. Following the departure of the German Family we decided to ask this girl (her name was Amandine Dubessay) for a couple of restaurant recommendations. She questioned us on our food likes and dislikes, if price was important, were we looking for something typically French or whether we were looking for one of the new exciting stylish restaurants that were serving innovative first class cuisine, her questioning was quite perceptive and so she gave us the name of three restaurants to choose from. She gave us telephone numbers and advised on whether we needed to book or not and the suitable dress code. Before leaving her she mentioned she was renovating an apartment in the Montmartre Village and maybe next time we were in Paris perhaps we should contact her to see if it was available for renting. Well firstly the restaurant she recommended was fabulous, very stylish, great food, good service, stylish ambience and price wise not over the top. We did return to Paris from the South of France five weeks later and because she got it right with the restaurant we thought why not call her even though in the past we have always stayed around St Germain. The apartment was available. Location, location, location. Fantastic, we had the best seven days there. The apartment had a brand new kitchen with all new appliances, stylish lounge area with sofa bed suitable for two persons, small but adequate size bedroom with double bed and a bathroom with great shower. The kitchen lounge area has three floor to ceiling French windows which front on to the village square and when opened you feel as though you are very much part of Parisian life and part of the busy day to day activity of the locals. When the windows are closed you don’t hear a thing and you can relax in privacy. Walk out the front door and you are surrounded by the best group of typical Paris shops you could possibly imagine. Food, fashion, art houses, inpendant cinema, Metro, wine bars etc etc. But the best thing about this apartment is the meet and greet from Amandine. She will sound you out and give you the best advise on where to go and what to do whilst you are in Paris. We have no hesitation recommending Amandine and her apartment to our friends and should you choose to rent from her we are sure like us you will be very happy and enjoy yourself whilst in Paris.

  • We stayed at Amandine's apartments at Monmartre and highly enjoyed our vacation. Amandine sent detailed instructions on how to get to apartments and was waiting us there. The apartment was clean and fully furnished with all new furniture. The apartment has one bedroom and large living room and can accomodate up to 4 people. There are a lot of good and affordable cafes and shops nearby and the whole area is very lively. Everything was fine during our stay. I'd recommend Amandine to everyone who goes in France on a vacation. She's a professional and her apartments are even better than a hotel room. I'll definitely stay at Amandine's apartment next time.

  • Hi Amandine I would simply like to thank you for your contribution to my lovely stay in Montmartre. The apartment is excellent, in a perfect setting with a wonderful patisserie over the road (far too close for my waistline), an abundance of charcutterie and maison du fromage nearby and "parisian" restaurants to be discovered with your help. Whenever I needed anything, it was great to know that you were able to answer quickly - even when I was in another part of Paris and needed some (usually culinary) advice. I am sorry to leave tomorrow but look forward to a return visit. I will see you in the morning at about 9.45 Donald

Merci "Rue Amandine" (English) We have spent ten days in the lovely Montmartre apartement together with our small doughter. The Apartment is perfectly located. Close by stunning bars and delicious Restaurants and just jex to the Subway. The Neighbourhood shows Paris from its best side. Vivid and alive, cultural and nostalgic at once. We were really happy to have found a place in which we felt home from the very first instant. Amandine the Manager from "Rue Amandine" was great. She had the Twist of beeing very friendly and personal. We felt at home in Paris aswell due to her effort welcomming us in the City. The appartement was very charming and beautiful set and taken care of. We would come to the best neighbourhood anytime again and talk about "our Apartment". Best and hopefully soon

  • We've been to Paris several times now and staying at an apartment was a great choice for us this time. We were greeted by Amandine as we arrived at the front door of the apartment in Montmartre - she was lunching nearby keeping her eyes peeled for us. The apartment was exactly like the pictures on the Internet and Amandine welcomed us and helped us get settled. She even left us a bottle of wine and a baguette and cheese (shaped like the Eiffel tower) for a snack. What a nice way to start our visit! Amandine loves her city and is a wealth of information for restaurants and events- I highly recommend her as an agent to help you find a place next time you're thinking of taking a trip to Paris. Merci encore Amandine!

  • My wife, infant daughter, and I stayed in this apartment for a few days in January 2011. As other reviewers have noted, there are many reasons to recommend this apartment. To these, I would add that Amandine rounded up a crib for our 18-month-old, which was crucially helpful. Amandine is a really exceptional host, and I would feel comfortable recommending any of her other apartments based on our experience with this one.

  • Ms Amandine Dubessay adds something special to the French concept of the "concierge". Knowledgable, of course! But, oh so charming in an exquisitely Parisienne manner. She knows all the cafes and restaurants and shops like a local and she is willing to arrange any little thing that fits with your particular needs. We were able to enjoy Paris more as a local than just as a tourist as a result. She helped make the whole experience so much more than a mere visit. Bravo, Mademoiselle.

  • Amandine is one of a kind! we were not sure if to use her services or count on the regular guidebook but eventually we took the right decision and contact her. Amandine gave a five stars service, she was there for us always with any question and problem we had. Her tips on places to visit and especially restaurants and markets were extremely helpful and upgraded our trip immensely. Just the fact that we didnt need to worry about anything! was worth it, we came, everything was ready and all was left to do is enjoy Paris and all it has to offer. Thank you Amandine for making our visit unforgettable (Yaron and Ilia stayed in an apartment near apt n°8 on web site)

  • This is the perfect get away location in the heart of romantic and "have it all" Montmatre. We had one of the greatest weekends. There are tons of restaurants, exhibitions, stores and the typical parisienne Lifestyle just at your feet. The appartment overlooks a little, cozy plaza which made me feel like the seashore is not far away:) As well the Metro is really just around the corner and with it you are easily conected to the rest of Paris and the Airport or Train Station. Plus you can rent one way bikes, le velib, just down the street. And that would be my secret tip to all off you future Paris tourists&gt : Do it by bike. Rent one of these bikes by the minute or hour. Just cruise through town and see all the many facettes of Paris and then just drop the bike where ever you'd like to. Funtastique!!!! The only thing to say: All in all it is pricey!! But it's Paris. And worth it all! The Appartment is just like on the pictures. All there. All cozy, comforty, romantic really. Maybe I found it a bit smaller than I thought BUT it is really greatly sized for a loving couple :)

  • This apartment has everything I need for: A really kind and charmer host (thanks for the welcome menu Amandine!!), a great location, a neighbourhood full of life with restaurants and shops (wineries, bakeries, cheese stores, oysters and all kind of seafood...) around, so close to 2 metro stations, and a place where you feel at home in Paris. It´s very comfortable, beautiful place, with big bed, great installations everywhere, great bathroom, free internet... And so on, is so close to the Guilo Guilo :) Jorge

  • The appartment in Montmartre is super. The location is excellent: in a lively part of Montmartre, with a great little bakery just across the street. A neighborhood with a nice mix of locals and tourists. Amandine is enthusiastic, a great host, speaks excellent English and made us feel very welcome! For our next time in Paris we would definitely like to stay in one of Amandine's apartments again!

  • I would return in an instant to this apartment. The decor is typically old fashioned french and classic, whilst appearing new and clean. Very beautiful features. An ideal location, and plenty big enough for 2 people. The surrounding area has all you need with fresh fruit and vegetables - that taste like fruit and vegetables! A delicious bakers, and very close to Blanche/Abbesses Metro. A very safe environment to walk around, so great for young families or alone travellers. Amandine is a generous host and helped us out with our 'Vegetarian' needs! A welcome basket of cheese, bread, butter, jam and Madelines went above and beyond what we expected. We wanted for nothing. Highly recommend.

  • Amandine's apartment is lovely, even nicer than it looks in the photographs and well-equipped. The area is perfect; our daughter enjoyed going across the road to the boulangerie in the morning to get bread, and we all loved observing life in the little square in front of the apartment from our french windows. The apartment was a bit more than we had initially budgeted for, but as soon as we got there we realised it was worth it. Amandine was responsive and reliable, and it was very reassuring to know that if we had any problems then she would be able, and happy, to help us. She was an excellent host.

  • I will never stay at a hotel again. I will never stay anywhere else In Paris except at this wonderful first floor apartment that looks onto the throb of Montmartre. Succulent croissant and baguette from across the road, wonderful fish from the poissonnerie on ther corner. BUT the real trick is to get Amandine who will welcome you and pamper you anyhow to arrange a personal itinerary - With Rue Amandine (www.rueamandine.com) for about the price of one nights accomodation you get a utterly personal plan with places Parisians haven't yet found and restaurants like Frenchie where there is a 3 month waiting list and Amandine somehow wangles you a table. Have a days less stay and a lot more holiday by using Rue Amandine - and she is no relation just a wonderful young woman that helped me and my 14 year old son have one of the best holidays of my life. I will be back! (note from RA : you may see Robin's video review in the blog part: "if you do not use Rue Amandine, you're crazy").

  • Bonjour Amandine, We are back and amazingly tired. I have bragged on you to everyone. You did a fantastic job getting us the perfect rooms/apartments in Paris, Roma, Venice, Berlin and London. They were all very nice, attractive, and safe. Our favorite, of course, was Paris. We loved living there and being a part of the life in Paris! My next favorite was Venice. We loved being there with the water and boats. (We loved the Coliseum and the Vatican in Rome but found the people were not as friendly as in Paris). The whole trip was wonderful !!! Merci, Amandine. If you ever want to come to USA, please plan on staying with us any time you like! We have plenty of room and would love to have you with us. Donna and Larry

  • As a first timer to Paris, I was thrilled to be a part of the Montmartre community rather than in a hotel. For several days I was transported to a different time and place through the many sites and sounds of such a beautiful city. Many thanks to Rue Amandine for providing a great place to stay and insider tips on places to see, eat and drink. I will definitely be a frequent visitor to Paris and a returning client to Amandine.

  • The Rue Amandine experience certainly provides a real Parisian experience. This was my 4th visit to Paris, but was much unlike any of my previous visits and was so much more enjoyable than staying at a hotel. Amandine kept in regular contact via email prior to the trip and supplied me with all the relevant arrival information I needed to find my way to the apartment. On my arrival, Amandine was waiting at the apartment to welcome me and show me round. It did feel like I had a friend in Paris! The apartment was a delight to stay in. I instantly felt comfortable and at home. I had told Amandine that I wanted to relax and enjoy some beautiful French bread, wine and cheese. When I arrived at the apartment, Amandine had already bought all of these items for me including Goats Cheese in the shape of the Eiffel Tower, so we could 'get stuck in' straight away! The 'roadbook' prepared by Amandine for my visit was a handy reference tool for my visit (...). Amandine bought 2 tickets for Le Louvre in advance for me which was good as we could avoid the long lines on arrival at the museum. Again, reference to the roadbook told us how to get there. The apartment will comfortably sleep 4 people. The bed in the living area is a sofa bed, but it is very large, sturdy and comfortable with a proper mattress. It was a pleasure to stand at the large windows and just watch everyday Parisian life passing by outdoors. I really did feel like I was at home there, and hope to go back sometime. I would not hesitate recommending RueAmandine.com to anyone. Thank you Amandine.

  • Rue Amandine was a perfect way to end our trip. We stayed in the Montmartre apartment, just up the road from a friend who is living in Paris so it was very convenient for us. The apartment was the perfect size for two (my mother and I), and we used the sofa bed as well as the bedroom. Amandine worked her magic and got us reservations at Frenchie as well as Le Chateaubriand. Both of which were fabulous. The roadbook was very helpful for other local restaurants and speciality shops. I have let many friends and family know how wonderful it was and will always contact Rue Amandine in the future when I travel to Paris. Amandine must have so clients from all over the world, but she managed to make us feel like old friends. A delightful person.

  • I arrived earlier than expected and Amandine is so wonderful in person as she appears online--extraordinary host who tried to make my first few minutes in the apartment as hospitable as possible. The area of Montmartre is one of the most beautiful areas in Paris and this apartment is situated in an amazing location. I highly recommend staying here. I was able to really feel like a Parisian during my stay. There are so many different cafes in the vicinity and some must see sights. Probably the best part of my trip was waking up Saturday morning, sipping my coffee, and having all three of the windows open with the breeze and the music coming from a band playing on the street below. I couldn't have had a better experience.

  • We had a fantastic staying in this Montmartre apartment. It's lovely, smart and also comfortable (sometimes a tricky combination). We loved the street and the general ambience around. It was easy to nip further into town, but in our short stay we enjoyed coming back to Montmartre and eating / drinking there. Amandine was excellent, very prompt in initially getting back to us. She really knows the area, and we learnt to trust her food recommendations above all others. It was a real pleasure to meet her. We went for the Rue Amandine package which was definitely worth it, an excellent shortcut to finding out great places to go.

  • This apartment was perfect for our group of 4. Although small it was plenty big enough, clean and well equipped. The location was second to none, you are are close to everything. Head up the hill past the windmill to the church and see the artist painting markets and other markets which are amazing. Amandine was brilliant and her staff member Sue who greeted us was very warm and welcoming. This would be a first option if we where to go back to paris. Thanks Again! from the Aussies Mick, Beth, Rueb, Katelyn.

  • I found all of the staff to be warm and friendly....they really made us feel welcomed and at home. The service was informative and prompt. Isabelle took all of the information I provided and delivered to us the exact experience we were looking for - that along with a warm welcome on arrival made for a wonderful experience. I have already referred friends to Rue Amandine. Keep up the great work, ladies.

  • Rue Amandine is the only way to see Paris! You’ll feel like a real Parisian! My husband and I decided to celebrate our 35th anniversary in Paris for the second time, and there is no way we would have been able to plan everything with out Rue Amandine. For months ahead, Amandine and her staff will help to customize your trip from the first moment you arrive, to the last day! We feel so lucky to have found her, and will continue to book all our future trips to Paris through Rue Amandine. It’s such a comforting feeling to know that you have someone you can count on, and to talk to anytime during your trip (especially if you don’t speak that much French!) She helps you to find the ideal apartment location specifically for you likes and desires, art, culture, food, history, etc., so you feel like you are really live among the “locals”! From the moment you land, she can arrange for someone to pick you up and take you to your apt, then you are greeted by one of her staff members with a welcome basket full of Parisian gourmet treats! She then guides you through a well planned “road book” of suggestions and ideas of how to spend your time in Paris from museums, shops, restaurants, (all prebooked for you), and all major attractions! Rue Amandine is just the best way to go if you’re planing a trip to Paris. Highly recommended! One of our highlights of our trip to Paris through Rue Amandine was a trip to Burgundy to spend the night in a beautiful castle (St Fargeaux)! The train ride alone was a beautiful site! It was a truly amazing experience to visit the castle, sleep in castles’ beautiful suite and have a traditional French meal in our room! We were also able to explore the entire castle and walk the castle grounds on our own! The next day we were toured the town's market to choose our favorite foods to take back to the Summer cottage for a cooking lesson and prepare all the wonderful food we had chosen. What a great experience that should be part of your trip to Paris and not be missed!

  • We had a wonderful week in Amandine's beautiful apartment, right in the heart of bustling Montmartre. The apartment is exactly as the pictures show, beautifully decorated. Special mention has to go to that amazingly comfy designer armchair - just perfect for curling up next to one of the three windows and watching the locals go about their day on Rue Lepic. The area is packed with wonderful food shops, bistros and tiny local restaurants so you really feel part of 'village' life. Our days were spent popping over to the lovely boulangerie across the street for our breakfast goodies, then strolling along to the Abbesses Metro where you can reach the rest of Paris in just a few short stops. We didn't get to meet Amandine personally, but her colleague Sue greeted us when we arrived with wine, bread, cheese and the all-important packet of Tetley tea! When we checked out we spent so much time chatting to Sue that we almost made ourselves late for the train home. Perfect hosts. Great apartment. Book it!

  • We used Rue Amandine to plan our 25th anniversary trip to Paris, and could not have been happier with the results. Thanks to Amandine,Isabelle&co, we had a truly magical experience. From the postcard-perfect apartment in Montmartre (on a quintessential cobblestone street with a fantastic boulangerie right across the street!) to a day trip to Versailles to dinners at some of the best (and hardest-to-book) restaurants in Paris, this was a special, once-in-a-lifetime trip.Thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times over for making our anniversary so memorable. • The location is excellent and the apartment is as nice it looks in the photos. Amandine and her colleague were very welcoming and the whole experience was perfect for us. Thanks again and will return!

  • We can not say enough wonderful things about our experience! Amandine was so speedy and thorough with communications prior to our trip, and had arranged her associate, Sue, to meet us at the apartment when we arrived. Sue greeted us so warmly with a basket of Parisian goodies, wine, and chocolate. She was a wealth of information about Montmartre and offered superb dining suggestions where we would also be comfortable bringing our young daughter. Sue even made herself available during our stay to offer further recommendations when needed. The apartment is unbelievably charming and perfectly situated- 3 large windows open to the street to watch the hustle of Parisian life stroll by, but becomes completely quiet when the windows are closed. Such perfect attention to detail inside--the furnishings beautiful and comfortable- luxurious bed linens, everything in the kitchen we needed to make breakfast each day. A delicious bakery across the street to purchase warm baguette and croissant each morning, many markets shops and restaurants nearby--Montmartre simply the most magical area we visited in Paris--and we felt so lucky to be staying so graciously in the heart of it all. The pull out couch was extremely comfortable with very high quality linens provided and the bedroom a most romantic and private nook. I would highly recommend this flat to a family or couple as we had plenty of space to spread out. We truly had a magical few days and recommend Amandine, Sue, and this gorgeous flat with no hesitation!

  • Absolutely beautiful apartment + incredible neighborhood = amazing time in Paris. We absolutely loved the space (2nd floor walkup? clean? bright? sunny? AWESOME) and the Montmartre neighborhood was incredible to live in. The host provided a small booklet with local sights to check out, restaurant. We would stay in this apartment again in a second (or if the host has another place - it was that good an experience).

  • This was our first time in Paris. We are from the USA and only speak English unfortunately. We have travelled widely in Europe but never to France because of the perceived language barrier. Rue Amandine made it comfortable for us. They took away the intimidation factor and made it seem friendly and doable. The apartment was great. Loved the location. Rode the subway all over the city without trouble. Loved the "book" they worked up for us. We were met at the train station and then met at the apartment. They got us comfortable and then left us to do Paris as we had planned. The BEST part is with Rue Amandine, you have a friend in Paris that you can call with questions, help, suggestions, whatever. For us, that was worth the price by itself. We had a wonderful time thanks to you. And by the way, the French are lovely, friendly, helpful and will speak English without hesitation. Thanks again. Merci beaucoup

  • Dear Amandine, thank you so much for having us in your beautiful appartment. We had a great time in the middle of lively montmartre with all the wonderful shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. Thanks also for all your additional informations and recommendations you had for us. Hope to see you again soon. Best regards Christof
