5 good reasons to come to Paris for Christmas

Christmas in Paris

Coming to Paris for Christmas will always be a hit: Paris is and will always be the best shopping place on earth: you’ll for sure find THE kind of present you need, from a diamond ring to an Eiffel Tower goat cheese…
But a trip to Paris is in itself a great present to treat your partner, kids, mother in law or your best friend.
To make the best of this celebration stay in the city, here is our selection of things to do and eat, Joyeux Noël!

Singing we will

Good news for the Parisian and our dear guests, My Fair Lady will be playing in Théâtre du Châtelet for Christmas, the best way to get in a joyful mood! This great production will be played in English, so let’s enjoy a real musical in Paris from Dec 5th to Jan 1st.
And after the show let’s have a good French dinner in la Robe et le Palais, my favorite address around…

Christmas in Paris

Party time for the kids

OK, I have to admit that Christmas time can be also a great period for the children: lucky them, they can come and play in the Grand Palais nave during “Jours de fête”, or choose to go for ice skaking in front of Paris town Hall… And of course the classic Ferris wheel will be in Place de la Concorde.
So send your partner with the kids in the Christmas jungle while you’ll be finishing your personal presents, you need to spoil yourself!

Shopping addict: here we go!

Christmas time = shops open all the time including the weekends, hurray! For a professional Christmas present hunter, you have to be ready by the end of November with your two lists: your personal long list with very clear pictures and shop addresses that you can leave in your partner’s wallet, and the short list for your partner/kids/parents/friends.

On my personal list you’ll find:

A bracelet from Emmanuelle Zysman, a jumper in Centre Commercial, earings from Judith Benita, boots from Patricia Blanchet and a ring from Tassia Canellis

For the second list, I’ll go to Pop market to find presents for the kids and my sisters/nieces, Balibaris for my man, Dyptique for my parents, and of course Merci for everyone!

Exhibitions we will see

Between two shopping sessions let’s enjoy the last days of great exhibitions, we’ll be happy to buy the tickets in advance for our dear guests!

Don’t miss the handsome naked men in “The nude man in art from 1800” in Musée d’Orsay, for once the masculine body is the star, enjoy!

Georges Braque will be also ending beginning of January, and so is the exhibition dedicated to Frida Khalo and Diego Rivera in Musée de l’Orangerie. Don’t miss either the Salgado event in Maison Européenne de la Photographie, beautiful!

Foie gras hunting: Christmas food shopping

Far from the tourist trap Christmas markets, you have to visit a real Parisian food market to prepare your special Christmas menu: poultry, chestnut, dry fruits, oysters… You’ll find anything you wish, especially in the Richard Lenoir Market on Thurdays and Sundays, the biggest one in Paris… Don’t miss the one in Boulevard Raspail in Saint Germain for organic food (Sunday as well).

Of course you can also do your shopping in different areas, buy your foie gras in Comptoir de la gastronomie, go to Legrand wine dealer to taste and buy your champagne, go the the famous Desnoyer butcher to choose your “chapon” and run to La Pâtisserie des rêves for the special Christmas vanilla “bûche”, my favorite one so far!

But the best will be to be guided by Sue for one of her famous gourmet tour to discover the secret addresses of your area, follow the guide, no time to loose in Paris…

So we wish you all a Merry Christmas and we’ll be happy to welcome you in one of our apartments and plan for you special Christmas holidays, à bientôt!

  1. Ethel Christin says:

Amandine, you are tempting me again. It would be so lovely to come back to Paris again, perhaps with one or more of my
daughters. Do any of your apartments have
    more than one bedroom?

Do you still have just one little girl –
    or are there more?

    Happy Holidays,
